Duffle Bag Gallore!

There were a lot of birthday parties this weekend. I love the duffle bags and since Hadley loves hers, I thought it would be fun to do duffle bags as gifts for the birthday girls. Here's a few I did for them. I like the royal blue color bag and thought it would be cute to see how it looked with a few different designs.

The WINNER is....

I had so much fun doing these two boat totes. Mason loves monkey's so I designed a crazy lil' monkey to hang from his name and Elena loves flowers. Hope they love their new totes for the school year!

$1 aisle of Target!

My daughter's birthday on the 4th of July is always a fun one. But this year I wanted to throw some creativity into it with my new embroidery machine. I decided to make the "favors" for the kids who came and to make her cake. I got the idea of the aprons when I was in Target in the dollar aisle (which you can NEVER spend JUST a dollar!!!) and they had the purple/pink ones for girls and the blue/red ones for boys. I picked up a handful thinking I could sell them on the site or just make them as gifts for one of the tons of birthday parties we are invited to. When I thought about what I was going to do as a favor, I figured I could either spend $1 on the apron and some time to make the design, or spend $4 on crap that would get thrown into a trunk. So.... I drove to about 4 different Targets buying out their supply of these aprons. I had JUST enough to do it. For the Fourth of July theme, I thought a baseball would be cute for the boys and a princess theme for the girls. (Couldn't really incorporate a blue/red/white theme on a purple/pink apron). Anywho... they turned out cute and they seemed to like them.
The cake on the other hand.... since this was really one of the first real ones I have made, it took quite some time. I cut out all the stars and lettering from fondant and attached/let them dry to the sticks/top layer of the cake. I cut out the hearts from fondant and piped out the flag for each cupcake. The frosting I had an issue with trying to figure out how to make the buttercream frosting. I realized I didn't have the right "coupler" for the bag, so I had to just knife it on to each one.

Shirt Testing

I've been testing out a few different shirts and how they would turn out monogrammed. I like the look of the polo shirt so much, I went out and bought a bunch of plain colors from Old Navy for both my daughters to initial.. Can never have too many monogrammed preppy polos, right?!
My daughter wanted me to make her a tank top with a starfish and a sea horse. Thought I'd play around with a new font I had. She loved it and I loved the cute little look of the tank, so I played with a few more designs.... (these look SO SO cute with a tutu... awesome tutu's can be found here on etsy: Kayden's Closet)

Sew Happy!

I've gotten a sewing machine and have instantly become an addict! My husband... not so much considering our kitchen table is now taken over by an embroidery machine and a sewing machine and all the crud that goes along with it! (Fabrics; threads; scissors; baskets; blank clothes and blankets; strings; fusing... you name it!)

Needless to say, my first project EVER sewing was a pillowcase dress. SO Cute! In the middle of the project, I was fed up and told my husband I was going to return the machine because it's too hard and confusing, but I fought my way to complete the project and man did it turn out cute! My daughter LOVED it and models it pretty well :-)

I liked it so much I thought I'd make a shirt for myself. Quite comfortable!

Next on the plate.... botties; a few different types of dresses/shirts; a purse and you guessed it... SHOES! You better believe it was going to come to that!

Bachelorette Party

I created items for a bridal shower as gifts and did the shirts for the bachelorette party that night. They both turned out cute and a great response came from all the recievers. The aprons were adorable and with all the different colors, it captured some of their personalities perfectly.

The Bride loved her shirt and having all the girls match really brought the group together.

I also made the cupcakes for the shower. They were a moist dark chocolate with a peanut butter buttercream frosting and a wedding dress topper made out of fondant cream. So cute!
